Timi Dakolo's rich choice of words, depth of lyrics and soulful vocals, is always an experience for listeners. His composure and outward behavior as well as his stage performance is world class, one that would win the accolade of Royals.
Born to a Nigerian Father and a Ghanaian Mother, Timi Dakolo's rise to fame was unprecedented.
His journey as a singer began in the early 90s when barely in his teens, he joined his church choir, a training route familiar to music artistes world over. He went on to compete and win a talent competition in Port Harcourt titled G.E Facto.
He was a founding member of the Purple Love singing group in 2003. Purple Love dominated Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
In 2007, Timi reluctantly auditioned for Idols West Africa in Calabar and made it through to the finals. With the resolve to let his little light shine. Timi Dakolo dared to be spectacular as he made an ecstatic appearance at the maiden edition of the West African Idol, the sub-region's version of the globally popular Idols brand in 2007.
Week after week, Timi wowed his fans across Africa with his unique raspy vocals and blues.
This timeless piece was inspired by his grandma-Mrs. Ateni Dakolo, who passed-on few weeks into the Idols competition and this undoubtedly spurred him to win the competition in honor of his grandmother.
In July 2011, his aptly-titled debut, Beautiful Noise album termed 'the most anticipated album of all times' was released into the music market.
According to his management, Now Muzik, 'Beautiful Noise' has been worth-the-wait. The album, an eleven (11) tracker is off-the-hinges, with major production input from the very intriguing-Cohbams Asuquo, as well as contributions from the Choc Boyz- Jesse Jagz and Mr. Incredible himself (M.I).
